How We Do Things, Wait list, Interviews, Adoption Agreements, Rates, and What’s included...

Disclaimer: We will not separate our puppies from their mother until they are fully weaned, have had final vet check as well as first round of shots and 3rd worming is complete. Typically adoption day is right between 7-8 weeks after birth. 

At UpNorth Labs, we are rigorous in screening and selecting the right adoptive family and home for each puppy.

Our offering is simple...

Before each litter arrives we create a wait list of potentially interested adopting families. In some cases we accept reservations ahead of time, but Once a litter is born, and we’ve determined all our puppies are healthy,  we send out notices to include pictures and details to those on the wait list.  Next we answer inquiries and respond in order received. During this time we verify if it’s a good match and adopting family agrees to our breeding and adopting terms.  Then we begin to collect deposits and signed adoption agreements, with clearly defined terms and expectations. It’s a first come first serve for reservation and selections of a puppy. 

Each of our puppies has at minimum:
• been fully weaned by 7-8 weeks, eating puppy food and drinking water

• begins house/potty training, 

• begins kennel training, 

• begins leash walking,  

•  1 veterinarian healthy puppy checkup to include; 1st round of puppy shots (DHLPP), and worming.

• we provide 2-3 rounds of working at home as well. 

• Dew claws remain intact, more and more research shows if declaws are removed dogs are more susceptible to broken bones in future.

•  Limited AKC registration, unless adopting family during initial interview discussed breeding rights and selects Full Registration at an additional cost (see pricing below) 

Finally puppies are sent home on adoption day with an AKC puppy packet including; 

• certified pedigree and litter registration certificate showing 4 generations of sire/dame, grand-sire/grand dame, and great grand-sire/grand dame, 

• veterinarian paperwork showing DHLPP shots and deworming, clear Bill of health,

• AKC forms to transfer ownership and finish registration.

We also provide in adoption puppy kit; 

• a section of the litter blanket (with mother and siblings scents, which comforts puppy after adoption and helps with separation anxiety).

• 1 day of the puppy food

• several puppy treats

• a puppy toy, 

• a colored collar and matching leash.  

Notice: our puppies are weaned and fed 1/3 cup of premium Hills Science puppy food 3-4x per day from weeks 3/4 until 7/8weeks, and then recommend speaking with veterinarian for healthy diet guidelines from week 8 and on...

Our adoption rates are as follows:

For limited AKC registered Male puppy

• $300 deposit, a signed adoption agreement agreeing to our adoption terms

• balance of $800 is due on or before adoption day. 

• Total $1100

For limited AKC registered Female puppy

• $400 deposit, a signed adoption agreement agreeing to our adoption terms

• balance of $900  is due on or before adoption day. 

• Total $1300

For Full AKC registered Male or Female puppy

• adopting family must inquire during reservation process and agree to breeding rules and best practices, to obtain full breeding rights 

• a $500 male or $750 female breeding rights fee in addition to  the standard adoption fee is applicable

•  Otherwise Limited AKC registration is standard.

All deposits/payments are submitted online through the Venmo payment app.

• We provide confirmation of receipt of deposit and payments via the app and via email. 

*Deposits and reservation fees are non-refundable, and used to cover our costs as Breeder

* Final adoption terms: Once puppy is adopted and full adoption price is paid, there are no refunds, warranties, or promises made or provided.
